A majority of the concrete injections done by Vancouver Injection and Waterproofing involves cold joints and crack injections. A significant part of our work involves underground parkades in which the membrane has given away, or the membrane was not installed correctly during construction. Water often finds its way through cracks in the foundation wall of parkades.
In this situation, a repair involves drilling half inch holes approximately six inches apart into the crack. Packers are then placed in the holes. Using a specialised pump, polyurethane grout is pumped into the crack under high pressure. This grout expands in the crack and hardens forming waterproof foam that seals the crack. Once the resin has cured, the packers are removed and the holes are filled with cement. If necessary, or as requested, the area is painted. The final result is a finish that looks like there is little evidence that there was a repair in that area.
Vancouver Injection and Waterproofing has a very high success rate with high pressure polyurethane grout injection. When possible, repairs should be done from the outside. However, when access to the leak would make the cost of repair unrealistic, injection, (when done correctly) is a very effective method, and can be a permanent solution. Injection applications can be performed on underground parkades, foundations, cold joints, elevator pits and other applications.
